Docs' Frequently Asked Questions

1. What happens after I sign up?

Once you sign up on our secure database, you will immediately be sent a confirmation email welcoming you to Docs For Tots! A few weeks later you will receive your Welcome Packet in the mail, with a copy of the Advocacy Toolkit, talking points matching your interests, and other information on advocacy organizations in your area, including information on how to contact us for resources and assistance. You will then begin to receive notifications of advocacy opportunities in your area.

2. What do you do with my information?

We collect our network doctors’ information in a database accessible only to Docs For Tots staff. We never share any of your information with any other groups or individuals unless we have your verbal or written approval to do so. We never provide lists of our network doctors to anyone, and we vigorously protect your privacy.

We use your email address and phone number to contact you on occasion with advocacy opportunities and to update you with Docs For Tots news. Other information, (such as your area of residency training and your advocacy interests) we use to gauge the kinds of events we should offer and pursue.

3. How often will you contact me?

You will typically only hear from us on two occasions: 1) Every other month you will receive our email-newsletter to update you on Docs For Tots events and accomplishments; and 2) When advocacy organizations in your area contact us for assistance from a local doctor, we will send you an email with the details of the opportunity. At that time, you can choose to accept or decline the advocacy opportunity.

4. How often will I be asked to participate in events?

We offer opportunities to our docs as they arise. Our network docs are as engaged as they want to be—some docs actively petition us for opportunities and others wait to hear from us. Your level of engagement is entirely up to you.

5. What does “support and resources” mean?

Docs For Tots staff is always available to assist you with communications, event planning, research, and informational materials. We provide talking points and powerpoint presentations on our website on many popular advocacy topics. And we are a point of contact to connect you with advocacy organizations. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to be a child-advocate, and we come up with creative and appropriate approaches to each and every doc request. We will work with you to make sure you get the support you need to advocate successfully on behalf of children.

Your primary point of contact at the DFT offices is the Advocacy Network Coordinator, your personal liaison to DFT and to advocacy organizations. You can always contact the ANC with questions, requests, and any concerns you may have.

6. Can I contact Docs For Tots to request an advocacy opportunity?

Absolutely! You can also contact us for assistance with an advocacy event you are planning or found on your own. From speaking to the media to organizing community events, Docs For Tots is here to assist you in making your advocacy efforts successful.  Please e-mail us at dft@docsfortots.org.
