Principal Advocacy Projects

Docs For Tots (DFT) is engaged in ongoing projects that address target issue areas promoting healthy development of children ages 0-5. Through these projects, which are the cornerstone of the organization’s work, DFT aims to engage doctors in both short and long-term advocacy efforts to garner greater support and progress for children's issues. These projects highlight the unique contributions of DFT network doctors who can act as messengers and medical experts for the child advocacy field.

Docs For Tots has designed state affiliate sites to enable the national network to stay informed and involved in the specific needs and activities of individual states.  Visit the Docs For Tots New York , Docs For Tots Washington State and Docs For Tots Oregon sites for additional information.

The Docs For Tots Early Learning Advocacy Project, coordinated by Docs For Tots Washington State, is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Through the project, doctors engage in public awareness and advocacy efforts to provide health and development technical assistance in order to promote quality early learning across Washington.

The Infant and Toddler Support Project, sponsored by the A.L. Mailman Family Foundation, aims to supply doctors with information about the health and development policies that affect children ages birth to three.  Using these science-based materials and their first-hand experience, doctors advocate for policies that positively impact the well-being of infants and toddlers.

The California Preschool Support Project, funded by The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, uses network doctors as preschool advocates to enhance, support, and promote preschool for all.

The Pre-K For All New York Support Initiative
is coordinated by Docs For Tots New York, and is sponsored by Pre-K Now.  Throughout this initiative network docs participate in Pre-K Now efforts to establish pre-kindergarten for all three and four year olds in New York State.

The Maternal, Infant and Toddler Mental Health Advocacy Project, financed through the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is a national initiative seeking to address the impact of maternal depression and infant and toddler mental health on early learning and development and later school readiness.
